大江千里

 

月見れば

千々に物こそ

悲しけれ

我が身ひとつの

秋にはあらねど 

おおえのちさと


つきみれば

ちぢにものこそ

Oe no Chisato


Looking at the moon,

Thousands and thousands of things

Truely make me sad,

Though it's not for me alone

That the autumn time has come.

Oe no Chisato, (exact dates unknown; we know he lived around 889 - 923), was a nephew of Yukihira (poem 16) and Narihira (poem 17). His poems are inspired by Chinese poetry.
