Onze huidige regering is heel bedaard, je kan ook zeggen met voorbedachten rade, de klok tientallen jaren terug aan het zetten. Het gevolg is een directe aantasting van onze gezondheid. Dit retrokabinet is niet alleen voor meer kolencentrales, maar ook voor meer kerncentrales. Het gaat in dit kabinet niet om de burgers maar om het geld, om de industrie, om nieuwe bedrijven, die ze dan weer voor een appel en een ei aan het buitenland kunnen verkopen (het gemeenschapsgeld subsidieert het allemaal wel, waarna bij verkoop alleen de top flink profiteert). Men denkt tegenwoordig zelfs aan de winning van schaliegas. Geldzucht is nog gevaarlijker dan idiotie.

Bijna alle partijen in de Tweede Kamer omarmen een nationaal plan voor schone energie. Een grote en belangrijke stap, zou je als buitenstaander kunnen denken. Maar de reactie vanuit het kabinet is veelzeggend: complete stilte.
Dat hoeft niemand te verbazen. Wat verwacht je anders met een VVD-premier die zegt dat windmolens niet draaien op wind maar op subsidie? Mark Rutte heeft volgens veel ‘duurzame’ critici geen enkele visie op het klimaat- en energieprobleem. ‘Dit kabinet vindt zulk beleid niet nodig. Niemand weet waar ze heen willen’, zegt Harry Droog, de pas afgetreden voorzitter van het Platform Duurzame Elektriciteitsvoorziening. Zijn adviesclub voor energietransitie is met de komst van Rutte afgeschaft.
Ruttes belangrijkste wapenfeit is het naar beneden bijstellen van de ambities voor duurzame energie in 2020: was 20 procent, nu 14 procent. Gedoogpartner PVV ziet zelfs geen enkele noodzaak in het terugdringen van CO2-emissies. Hoe het kabinet de verlaagde doelstelling moet halen met de komst van vier nieuwe kolencentrales, is een goed bewaard geheim."
Als onze regering een ramp wil veroorzaken dan moeten ze vooral aan 'fracking' gaan doen, het winnen van schaliegas.

Some of these chemicals are in the secret cocktail of liquids injected in the well; others come up naturally from underground. These toxins have regularly polluted rivers, streams and lakes. Some are endocrine disruptors, and have been scientifically shown to stunt growth and human reproductive capacity.
The damage spreads when contaminated water enters the food chain."

Dear Andrew Baum, Foley Lardner LLP, and Peabody Energy,
Thank you for your thoughtful letter demanding that we remove Peabody’s name from www.coalcares.org and cease falsely suggesting that Peabody cares about kids made sick by coal.
Your threat, although entirely baseless (see this response, and the EFF's blog post later today), did make us realize one thing: that Peabody, despite being our country's largest coal producer, and one of the largest lobbyists against common-sense policy, accounts for a mere 17% of U.S. coal production. The remaining 83% comes from 28 other companies, who are, every bit as much as Peabody, giving kids asthma attacks and other illnesses.

You suggest in your letter that “Peabody has a First Amendment right not to be involved with the dissemination of a message with which it does not agree,” a statement which, while completely untrue, does recall the World Resources Institute’s longstanding demand that you cease falsely attributing to them the nonsense statistic that “for every 10-fold increase in per-capita energy use, individuals live 10 years longer.” As the WRI notes:
First, WRI has never made such an assertion and has never done analysis to that effect. Second, this conclusion ignores critical factors related to energy production and human health. WRI’s longstanding support for a global transition to cleaner, low-carbon energy is well-documented.
We would be grateful if you would stop misquoting WRI and issue a corrective statement within the next 24 hours."
